Parents & Carers

Careers Education Support for Parents and Carers

When it comes to education and careers, parents and carers have the biggest influence on young people’s attitudes and aspirations. At a time where they might be overwhelmed by the choices available to them, parents and carers can be such a positive force because they know them best. We want to support parents and carers in being appropriately engaged, prepared, and armed with the right tools and information for their crucial role in shaping their child’s decisions about their future.

Here are some key reasons why it is important:

  1. Academic Success: Students with involved parents tend to achieve higher grades, better attendance, and improved behaviour. This strong academic foundation influences their future educational and career choices.
  2. Guidance and Support: Parents provide essential guidance and support, helping students navigate their options and make informed decisions about their careers and education.
  3. Motivation and Confidence: Parental involvement boosts students' motivation and self-esteem, encouraging them to pursue their goals and aspirations.
  4. Awareness of Opportunities: Engaged parents can expose students to various career paths and educational opportunities, broadening their horizons and helping them make well-rounded decisions.

Overall, parental engagement fosters a supportive environment that empowers students to make confident and informed decisions about their future.
